چکیده

Background: Single-port laparoscopic surgery is increasingly being used in cases of complex and complicated laparoscopic surgical intervention. We present a case of the cost effective Mishra’s extracorporeal knotting approach for treatment of a perforated duodenal ulcer (PUD). Methods: We present a case report of a patient with perforated duodenal ulcer who underwent single-port laparoscopic repair. She had peritoneal lavage and suture of the perforation using the Mishra’s knot. This was reinforced with an omental patch repair. After surgery, the patient was placed on an indefinite course of proton pump inhibitors. Results: We successfully completed the procedure via SILS (single incision laparoscopic surgery). We subsequently placed a drain in the right lower quadrant. The operative time was 57 min, and hospital stay was 5 days. She had minimal analgesic requirements. There was no operation-related morbidity. Follow-up to 6 months was done. Conclusions: Single-port laparoscopic repair using the Mishra knot technique is a feasible and safe Procedure. It is a cost technique for Single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) treatment of perforated duodenal ulcers.

Laparoscopic repair for perforated peptic ulcers with U-CLIP®

BACKGROUND The literature established that, in patients without Boey's risk factors, laparoscopic repair of perforated peptic ulcers, compared to open repair, is associated to lower wound infection rate, less analgesic use, reduction in post operative pain, shorter hospital stay. Some of the main drawbacks are length of operative time and laparoscopic surgeon's experience in intracorporeal knot...

Laparoscopic versus open repair of duodenal perforation: a comparative study in tertiary care hospital in Uttarakhand, India

Laparoscopic repair is indeed a very useful method of dealing with this common complication of peptic ulcer disease, which forms a large bulk of patients presenting to surgery emergency with acute abdomen. Laparoscopic approach overcomes the disadvantages of a conventional open repair which includes large upper abdominal incision, wound infection and dehiscence, prolonged ileus and pulmonary co...

Single-incision laparoscopic versus laparoscopy-assisted subtotal gastrectomy for peptic ulcers: a retrospective comparative study

Background/Aims: The application of single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for peptic ulcer remains controversial. The aim of this study was to compare clinical outcomes and postoperative parameters of transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy (SILSG) versus laparoscopy-assisted subtotal gastrectomy (LASG) for benign peptic ulcer. Methods: Data from 31 patients who u...

In recent years, a number of papers have been published where the authors managed perforated duodenal peptic ulcer in selected patients using laparoscopic approach. Laparoscopic treatment of perforated duodenal...
